BRIEF SYNOPSIS

“An Intimate Distance: The Law of the Swindler” is a historical comedy based in 1944, in an Ecuador that hasn’t escaped the arrival of a pair of Nazis. The film tells the story of Riofrí­o, an insignificant bachelor who works in a bank and lives under the unbearable shadow of his sick mother. He’s wildly in love with Pepita, the prettiest nurse in the city. Then his life changes radically one day when Kurt Mainzel, an important German Nazi who happens to be his mother’s doctor, proposes robbing a bank in order to buy Reichsmark, the official currency of the Third Reich.
